18 Jun, 2026 10:43 AM

England made an impressive start to their FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign by defeating Croatia 4-2 in their Group L match played on Thursday, June 18. Thomas Tuchel's side collected three valuable points with a convincing victory at Dallas Stadium. Harry Kane starred for England with two goals, while Jude Bellingham and Marcus Rashford also found the back of the net to help their team secure the win. Despite the final scoreline, the contest was far more competitive than it appeared. Croatia responded strongly in the first half, drawing level on two occasions and putting England under considerable pressure. However, the Three Lions raised their performance significantly after the break and eventually sealed a 4-2 victory to begin the tournament on a winning note. England applied pressure from the opening minutes of the match, and their attacking approach paid off in the 12th minute. Young winger Noni Madueke carried the ball into the penalty area, where he was fouled by Luka Modric while attempting to stop him. The referee immediately awarded a penalty, giving England an excellent opportunity to take the lead.
