Amritsar Man Disappears Abroad, Family Demands Probe After Serious Allegations

A 28-year-old man from Amritsar who travelled to Dubai with his wife in 2024 has gone missing under mysterious circumstances, prompting his family to level serious allegations and demand a government investigation into the case. According to the victim’s father, the young man disappeared just a few days after reaching Dubai. Following his disappearance, the daughter-in-law returned to India but did not go back to her matrimonial home. Instead, she reportedly went to her parental house and later filed for divorce. The family has further alleged that recently, the woman sent a death certificate through the village sarpanch, which they have described as part of a conspiracy. The father stated that he still does not know whether his son is alive or dead. He also claimed to have learned that his daughter-in-law has remarried. The missing man, identified as Lakhbir Singh, got married in October 2023. He was a national-level volleyball player and belonged to a family with two brothers and one sister. One of his brothers resides in Italy, while the other assists their father in agricultural work. Lakhbir Singh’s father, Desha Singh, a resident of Jagdev Kalan village, said that in April 2024, he had sent his son and daughter-in-law, Kavaldeep Kaur, to Dubai. The plan was to later send them to Italy for work. For this purpose, the family sold their land and paid approximately Rs 18 lakh to an agent. However, the agent allegedly absconded with the money. Desha Singh further stated that in September 2024, he asked his son to return to India. A day before their scheduled return, a friend who was staying with Lakhbir informed the family that Kavaldeep Kaur had forcibly taken Lakhbir somewhere. Later that night, she reportedly returned alone and informed others that Lakhbir had gone missing. The family has now urged authorities to conduct a thorough investigation to uncover the truth behind the disappearance.
