Amit Shah Targets AAP Government Over Punjab’s Law and Order and Drug Crisis

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has criticised the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government over the deteriorating law and order situation and the drug menace in Punjab, alleging that the state is struggling with drugs, gangsterism and organised crime.

Shah questioned the state government’s ability to tackle these challenges and raised concerns about the safety of residents and their property. He said the Bhagwant Mann-led government needed to explain who was responsible for protecting the lives and property of the people amid the prevailing situation.

Referring to recent incidents, the Home Minister cited a suicide by a person in Dirba and the daylight killing of Parvinder Singh Jhota in Mansa. Jhota had reportedly raised his voice against people involved in drug sales. Shah said these incidents reflected a serious breakdown of law and order in the state.

He also referred to allegations made by Jhota’s father against the AAP government and its MLAs. Shah said the Union Home Ministry would take serious note of the allegations and seek a response from the Punjab government.

“Bhagwant Mann ji, the people of Punjab want answers, not hollow publicity. They need concrete results, not empty announcements,” Shah said.

The Home Minister called for the dismantling of drug networks and demanded an impartial investigation into allegations that criminals were receiving political protection.

Shah also reiterated the BJP’s commitment to creating a drug-free, gangster-free and secure Punjab if the party forms the government in the state.

He said the BJP’s priorities would include breaking the drug trade, protecting the future of young people, taking strict action against criminals and establishing a system in which every resident could live without fear.
