Fire Breaks Out in Daejeon Factory; Rescue Teams Search for Missing Workers

At least 10 people have died following a fire at an auto parts factory in Daejeon, South Korea. Officials said the blaze broke out suddenly and spread rapidly, trapping workers inside the facility. Rescue teams on Saturday recovered 10 bodies from the charred remains of the factory. Authorities reported that 59 others were injured in the incident, including 25 in critical condition, while 34 sustained minor injuries. Emergency teams are continuing to search for four additional workers still missing under the debris. The fire reportedly started in the early afternoon. A disaster management official from the Ministry of the Interior confirmed that the death toll had reached 10 by 5 a.m. on Saturday. More than 500 firefighters, police officers, and emergency personnel were deployed immediately after the fire broke out on Friday afternoon to control the blaze and carry out rescue operations. According to Yonhap News Agency, a total of 170 workers were present in the plant at the time of the fire. During rescue efforts, one body was recovered from the second floor, while three others were found on the third floor. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the fire.
