Three Arrested as Punjab Police Uncover Major Illegal Weapons Racket

In a significant breakthrough, the Amritsar Police Commissionerate has dismantled an illegal arms supply network operating from Madhya Pradesh with alleged cross-border connections. The operation led to the arrest of three individuals and the recovery of a substantial cache of weapons. According to Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav, the arrests were confirmed through a post on social media platform X on Monday. He stated that the police had successfully uncovered a gang involved in the illegal supply of firearms, with links extending beyond state boundaries. During the operation, police recovered six pistols, including one PX5 .30 bore pistol, three .32 bore pistols, and two .30 bore pistols. Additionally, seven live cartridges were seized from the accused. Preliminary investigations suggest that the accused procured illegal weapons from Madhya Pradesh and were in contact with smugglers based in Pakistan through social media platforms. Authorities suspect that the network was actively facilitating cross-border arms smuggling and supplying weapons to criminal elements across Punjab. Police officials confirmed that an FIR has been registered at the Civil Lines police station in Amritsar, and further investigations are underway to trace the entire network and identify other individuals involved.
