Dr Deepak Singla Attends Punjab State and Chandigarh Human Rights Commission Meeting

The Punjab State and Chandigarh Human Rights Commission organised an interaction meeting with members of the core group in Chandigarh under the leadership of Padma Shri Jitender Singh Shunty. Dr Deepak Singla, a member of the Human Rights Commission, attended the meeting and participated in discussions on various public issues. The meeting provided an open platform for meaningful dialogue between the Commission, core group members and residents of Chandigarh. During the interaction, participants raised several issues concerning the protection and promotion of human rights, public welfare, civic amenities, healthcare, education, social justice and public services. Participants also shared valuable suggestions aimed at strengthening the system for safeguarding the rights and dignity of citizens. The discussions focused on improving mechanisms through which public concerns and rights-related grievances can receive appropriate attention. Padma Shri Jitender Singh Shunty assured the participants that the Commission remains fully committed to protecting human rights and ensuring that genuine complaints receive prompt and appropriate attention. He also stressed the importance of active public participation and effective coordination between citizens and government departments to promote accountable and transparent administration. Officials of the Punjab State and Chandigarh (UT) Human Rights Commission, along with senior officers representing various departments of the Chandigarh Administration, also participated in the meeting. The officials interacted with those present and responded to issues falling within their respective areas of jurisdiction. The Commission appreciated the active participation of the core group members and Chandigarh residents. It reiterated that such open interactions provide an effective platform for maintaining direct engagement with the public and understanding issues concerning citizens. The Commission further stated that it will continue organising similar outreach programmes across Punjab and the Union Territory of Chandigarh to strengthen public awareness, encourage citizen participation and promote the protection of human rights.
