PM Modi to Inaugurate Noida International Airport Today After 24-Year Wait

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the first phase of the Noida International Airport today. Built at an estimated cost of around ₹11,200 crore, the airport is expected to significantly enhance connectivity, trade, and economic growth in Uttar Pradesh. The airport, located along the Yamuna Expressway, will serve as the second international gateway for the Delhi-NCR region, complementing the existing Indira Gandhi International Airport. It is also seen as a major step toward strengthening India’s aviation sector and promoting self-reliance. Additionally, the project is expected to generate new employment opportunities. According to the schedule, the Prime Minister will inspect the terminal building at around 11:30 AM. At approximately 12:00 noon, he will officially inaugurate the first phase of the airport and later address a public gathering. Extensive security arrangements have been made for the event, with nearly 7,000 police personnel deployed. More than 300 CCTV cameras have been installed to ensure continuous monitoring. During the समारोह, movement of cargo vehicles has been restricted on the Noida Expressway and Yamuna Expressway. The total cost of Phase 1 is estimated at ₹11,282 crore, with an initial annual passenger handling capacity of 12 million. In the future, this capacity is expected to be expanded to 70 million passengers. The airport is being developed as a multi-modal transport hub, integrating road, rail, metro, and regional transport systems. This is expected to reduce travel time and logistics costs in the region.
