Ludhiana: Firefighters Douse Major Blaze at Canara Bank After 45-Minute Operation

A major fire broke out at a Canara Bank branch located in the Haibowal area of Ludhiana on Saturday, causing extensive damage to the bank's premises. The blaze spread rapidly, engulfing the server room and record room, resulting in the destruction of a large quantity of official bank records. According to available information, the incident came to light in the morning when a passerby noticed smoke rising from the bank building. The individual immediately alerted nearby residents, creating concern in the area. Soon after receiving the information, teams from the Fire Brigade rushed to the spot to control the blaze. Around three to four fire tenders were deployed for the firefighting operation. After nearly 45 minutes of continuous efforts, firefighters succeeded in bringing the fire under control. Fire Brigade officials said that the preliminary investigation indicates that the fire may have been caused by a short circuit. Meanwhile, bank authorities and the concerned departments are assessing the extent of the damage caused by the incident. Police and Fire Brigade officials have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire and evaluate the losses.
