Building Collapse in Uttar Pradesh, Several Feared Trapped Under Debris

A major accident occurred in Prayagraj on Monday afternoon when a cold storage facility collapsed in the Phaphamau area of the Ganga Par region. Several people are feared to be trapped under the debris following the incident. Soon after the collapse, ammonia gas began leaking from the facility, worsening the situation. As a precautionary measure, authorities cleared the area and moved the crowd away from the site. The strong smell of gas reportedly spread up to one kilometre, forcing people nearby to cover their faces with cloth. Rescue operations are currently underway, with the administration deploying five JCB machines to clear the debris. Teams from the SDRF and NDRF are also present at the spot, assisting in the ongoing efforts. So far, nine people have been rescued from the debris, while four have been confirmed dead. The deceased have been identified as Pilat Chaudhary, Mashinder, Jyotish, and Jagdish. Jagdish was a resident of Prayagraj, while the other three victims were from Bihar. Eyewitnesses reported hearing an explosion-like sound before the structure collapsed. The ammonia leak followed immediately after the incident. Injured individuals are being rescued and shifted to SRN Hospital for treatment. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, and rescue operations remain in progress.
