Security Tightened in Amritsar Ahead of Operation Blue Star Week Observance

Punjab Police has strengthened security arrangements in Amritsar ahead of the observance of Operation Blue Star Week on June 6. To maintain law and order and ensure the safety of devotees, Amritsar Police has been conducting regular flag marches across the city. According to police officials, these flag marches will continue until June 6. Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar stated that a special security plan has been prepared for the Ghallughara Week observance. As part of the security measures, Commissionerate Police Amritsar carried out extensive flag marches across all three zones of the city to reinforce peace and public order. During the marches, security arrangements in sensitive areas, marketplaces and public places were reviewed. Citizens were also urged to stay away from rumours and rely only on official sources of information. To ensure the safety of the general public, 2,500 police personnel have been deployed across the city. In addition, companies of the Border Security Force (BSF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Rapid Action Force (RAF) have also been stationed to help maintain peace and security under all circumstances. Flag marches are being conducted in major markets, old city areas, the vicinity of Sri Harmandir Sahib and other sensitive locations. The objective of these exercises is to instill public confidence and keep a close watch on any rumours or anti-social activities. According to the police, continuous patrolling, security checkpoints and vehicle inspections are being carried out throughout the city. Special vigilance is being maintained at sensitive locations to ensure a peaceful and secure environment during the observance period.
