CRPF Jawan Dies on Duty in Jammu and Kashmir, Probe Underway

A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) died after a bullet was discharged from his service rifle inside a camp in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, officials said. The deceased has been identified as Constable Abdul Gani, a resident of Samba. He was deployed on sentry duty in Poonch town when a bullet was fired from his own service weapon, leaving him critically injured. He succumbed to his injuries on the spot. Officials stated that the circumstances surrounding the firing are currently under investigation. Preliminary inquiries have not ruled out any possibility, including accidental discharge or suicide. According to officials, fellow personnel rushed to the spot after hearing the sound of the bullet and found the constable dead. The police have initiated inquest proceedings to ascertain the exact cause of the incident.
