Mahindra XUV 7XO Secures 5-Star Safety Rating in Bharat NCAP Crash Tests

Mahindra's seven-seater SUV, the XUV 7XO, has earned a top five-star safety rating in crash tests conducted by Bharat NCAP (BNCAP). According to data released by the safety evaluation agency, the tested trim levels—AX7 DSL 2W 7S AT and AX7L DSL 4W 7S AT—demonstrated strong performance across both adult and child occupant protection parameters. In the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) category, the XUV 7XO achieved a score of 30.76 out of a total 32 points. This performance comfortably exceeded the 27-point benchmark required to secure a five-star rating under BNCAP's current testing protocol. Specifically, the SUV scored 14.76 out of 16 points in the frontal offset deformable barrier evaluation and a maximum score of 16 out of 16 in the side movable deformable barrier test. The vehicle also successfully met the criteria for the side pole impact test with an "OK" assessment. Standard safety equipment on the evaluated variants includes dual front airbags, side chest and pelvis airbags for the driver and front passenger, and side head curtain airbags designed to protect occupants across all three seating rows. Front-seat occupants benefit from seat belts with pretensioners and load limiters, while seat-belt reminder alerts are integrated for every seat position. Electronic Stability Control (ESC) is supplied as a standard feature across the entire vehicle lineup. The SUV also recorded high metrics in Child Occupant Protection (COP), accumulating 44.97 out of 49 possible points—well above the 41-point requirement needed for a five-star COP rating. The total consists of a dynamic crash-test score of 23.97 out of 24, a perfect 12 out of 12 for child restraint system installation, and 9 out of 13 for general vehicle assessment. During testing, child seats were secured using ISOFIX anchor points on the second-row outer seats, yielding near-maximum scores in frontal and side impact assessments. Additionally, a manual airbag cut-off switch is included for the front passenger seat to accommodate rear-facing child seats. The top-spec variant of the Mahindra XUV 7XO incorporates additional safety technology, including up to seven airbags, a 540-degree camera system, an electronic parking brake featuring auto-hold, and a Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite. This suite encompasses adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and automatic emergency braking.
