Weather to Change Across Punjab and Chandigarh, Yellow Alert Announced

Weather conditions across Punjab and Chandigarh are set to change significantly from today, with the meteorological department issuing a yellow alert for the next three days. The alert warns of thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds during this period. Wind speeds are expected to reach between 30 and 40 km per hour. According to the department, light to moderate rainfall is likely at several places across most districts today. In around ten districts, thunderstorms accompanied by stronger winds of 50–60 km per hour are expected. These districts include Ferozepur, Fazilka, Faridkot, Muktsar, Moga, Bathinda, Barnala, Mansa, Sangrur, and Patiala. As per Surender Pal, Director of the Meteorological Department, light to moderate rainfall is expected at isolated places in the state on March 28 and again between March 31 and April 2. On March 29 and 30, rainfall is likely to occur at a few locations. Temperature fluctuations are also expected over the coming days. The maximum temperature is likely to drop by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius in the next 24 hours. This will be followed by a rise of 2 to 4 degrees over the next two days. Subsequently, a decline of 3 to 5 degrees is expected, followed again by an increase of 2 to 4 degrees. On March 28, thunderstorms with wind speeds of 30–40 km per hour are likely at isolated places. Between March 29 and 30, thunderstorms accompanied by winds of 40–50 km per hour, with gusts reaching up to 60 km per hour, are expected at various locations across the state.
