Sonipat : In a significant operation under Haryana’s ongoing anti-corruption campaign, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested Shashank Kumar, the Personal Assistant (PA) to the Sonipat Deputy Commissioner (DC), on Friday for accepting a bribe of Rs.3.5 lakh. The sting operation, conducted at the DC office in Sonipat, has sent shockwaves through the administration.
Details of the Operation: According to sources, the complainant approached the ACB, alleging that Shashank Kumar demanded Rs.3.5 lakh to facilitate an administrative task. After verifying the complaint, the ACB team laid a trap at the DC office and caught Kumar red-handed while accepting the cash. The bribe amount was seized on the spot, and an FIR has been registered against the accused under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Kumar is set to be produced in court soon.
Ongoing Investigation:
The ACB is probing the possible involvement of other officials in the case. The operation has caused a stir among employees and officers in the DC office, with heightened scrutiny expected in the coming days.
