11 Aug, 2026 07:59 AM

Several schools in Chandigarh received bomb threat emails once again, triggering panic and prompting security agencies and Chandigarh Police to launch a search operation across the city. According to preliminary information, Vivek High School in Sector 38 was among the prominent schools that received the threatening emails. The messages claimed that bombs had been placed inside the school buildings. Following the alerts, the authorities were immediately informed and security teams were deployed to the affected school campuses. Chandigarh Police, along with bomb disposal squads and dog squads, reached the school premises and began detailed security checks. The teams are inspecting the buildings and surrounding areas as a precautionary measure. The school authorities evacuated students, teachers and staff from the premises to ensure their safety. An official said that children who had arrived at school with their parents were immediately sent back home, while the remaining students were moved outside the buildings and gathered at a safe location. The official further said that no one would be allowed to re-enter the school buildings until the security agencies completed their checks and declared the premises completely safe. Schools Have Received Similar Threats Earlier Several schools in Chandigarh have received similar bomb threat emails since the beginning of this year, repeatedly causing panic among students, parents and school authorities. Like previous incidents, the latest email is also suspected to have been sent by a group supporting the Khalistan ideology. However, the matter remains under investigation. Earlier as well, bomb threat emails had been sent to schools in Chandigarh, the Punjab and Haryana High Court, the Mayor's Office and other important government offices. The police cyber cell is investigating the IP address and source of the latest email. Authorities are working to determine where the threatening message originated and identify those responsible for sending it.
