Sukhna Lake Gets Second Cruise as Demand for Lake Rides Continues to Grow

Visitors to Sukhna Lake in Chandigarh will soon be able to enjoy rides on a new solar-powered double-decker cruise. The Chandigarh Administration has purchased the vessel from a Goa-based company as part of efforts to enhance the tourist experience at the popular lake. According to available information, the new cruise has the capacity to accommodate approximately 150 passengers at a time. However, the administration will determine the number of passengers allowed on board based on operational and capacity-related considerations. One of the key features of the double-decker cruise is its environmentally friendly design. The vessel operates entirely on solar energy and does not require diesel or any other fuel for operation. Tourists will be able to enjoy cruise rides from after sunrise until sunset. At present, only one cruise service is available at Sukhna Lake, resulting in high demand among visitors. To meet this growing demand and provide additional capacity, the administration has introduced a second cruise for the lake. The fare for the new double-decker cruise has not yet been finalized. However, reports indicate that the ticket price is likely to be kept affordable and within the budget of the general public. It is believed that the fare could be around ₹300 per person, though no official announcement has been made so far. The Chandigarh Administration has also not yet confirmed when the new double-decker cruise will be officially launched for public rides at Sukhna Lake.
