Commercial LPG Cylinder Prices Slashed; Domestic LPG Rates Remain Unchanged

Oil marketing companies have announced a significant reduction in the prices of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders, with the revised rates coming into effect from Saturday. However, there has been no change in the prices of domestic LPG cylinders. Under the revised pricing, the cost of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has been reduced by Rs 202 in Delhi and by Rs 209 in Kolkata. Following the latest revision, a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder in Kolkata will now cost Rs 2,872.50. The latest price cut follows another reduction made last month, when oil marketing companies lowered the price of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders by Rs 183.50. After that revision, the retail price of a commercial cylinder in Delhi had come down to Rs 2,930 per cylinder. In addition to the reduction in commercial LPG cylinder prices, oil marketing companies have also cut the price of the 5-kg Free Trade LPG (FTL) cylinder by Rs 13. With the revised rates, the retail price of a 5-kg FTL cylinder in Delhi now stands at Rs 808.50. The latest reduction comes after several price revisions in recent months. In June, the price of a 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder was increased by Rs 29, taking the retail price in Delhi from Rs 913 to Rs 942 per cylinder. Earlier, on March 7, oil companies had increased LPG cylinder prices by Rs 60 per cylinder due to disruptions in global energy markets linked to the conflict in West Asia. In April, amid rising tensions in West Asia, oil marketing companies had also raised the prices of commercial LPG cylinders by Rs 195.50 across metropolitan cities. Following that revision, commercial LPG cylinder prices increased to Rs 2,208 in Kolkata, Rs 2,031 in Mumbai and Rs 2,246.50 in Chennai. The latest reduction in commercial LPG prices is expected to provide relief to sectors that rely heavily on these cylinders, including restaurants, catering services and small businesses, where fuel accounts for a significant share of operating costs.
