Candidates Urge Authorities to Change Punjab Police Physical Test Date Over PSSSB Exam Conflict

23 Oct, 2026 04:42 PM

Several candidates applying for constable posts in Punjab Police have requested authorities to reschedule either the police physical test or the Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board (PSSSB) Group-D written examination, as both recruitment processes are scheduled for October 25.

The candidates have submitted a representation to the Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board (PSSSB), stating that many of them have applied for both recruitment drives and are unable to participate in two examinations taking place on the same day.

The Group-D recruitment process covers entry-level non-technical support positions in various Punjab government departments. These posts generally include office attendants, chowkidars, sweepers, gardeners, beldars, water carriers and cattle attendants in the Animal Husbandry Department. The PSSSB is responsible for conducting recruitment for these vacancies.

According to the candidates, the written examination for Group-D posts under Advertisement No. 04/2026 has been scheduled on the same date as the physical test for Punjab Police constable recruitment.

Many applicants said they have already paid application fees for both recruitment processes and have successfully cleared the first stage of the Punjab Police selection procedure. For them, only the physical test remains before further stages of the recruitment process.

In their memorandum, the candidates pointed out that neither the PSSSB nor Punjab Police has issued any joint notice or clarification addressing the clash of examination schedules for affected applicants.

The aspirants have appealed to the authorities to either reschedule one of the examinations or provide an alternative date for candidates impacted by the overlap. They argued that after investing time, effort and application fees and clearing preliminary stages of recruitment, they should not be forced to forgo an opportunity in either selection process.

As of the time of publication, no official statement or response had been issued by either the Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board or Punjab Police regarding the candidates' request.
