Delhi-Gorakhpur Bus Crashes on Expressway, Several Critically Hurt

A major road accident took place on Tuesday morning on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway in Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao district. A double-decker bus travelling from Delhi to Gorakhpur lost control near the 262-kilometre mark in the Auras police station area, crashed into the railing, and overturned. According to officials, six people lost their lives in the accident, while 19 others sustained injuries. Several of the injured passengers are reported to be in critical condition. As soon as information about the accident was received, police teams, UPDA personnel, and local administration officials rushed to the spot. Rescue and relief operations were launched immediately. With the help of local residents, trapped passengers were pulled out of the overturned bus. The injured were shifted to nearby hospitals through ambulances for medical treatment. Authorities said that several critically injured passengers were referred to the Lucknow Trauma Centre for advanced treatment. Police officials confirmed that six passengers died on the spot, while 19 others were injured. Efforts are currently underway to identify the deceased. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination. The accident also disrupted traffic movement on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway for some time. However, traffic was later restored after authorities cleared the affected area and brought the situation under control.
