The Punjab government has taken significant steps over the past four years to strengthen social justice and economic equality, leading to tangible improvements in the lives of many families. Under the leadership of Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur, the Punjab Scheduled Castes Land Development and Finance Corporation has implemented several initiatives aimed at financially empowering underprivileged families. Providing details, Dr. Baljit Kaur stated that between 2022-23 and 2025-26, a total of 1,367 beneficiaries were provided loans worth ₹26.68 crore for various self-employment activities. These initiatives have helped increase their income and move them towards financial independence. She further emphasized that the government’s approach goes beyond mere financial assistance. It focuses on structured and result-oriented support to ensure long-term sustainability. As part of this effort, 1,229 beneficiaries have also been provided subsidy assistance amounting to ₹5.39 crore, bringing renewed financial stability and hope to numerous families. “Our goal is not just to provide aid, but to make people self-reliant,” she said. These initiatives are not limited to statistics but reflect real-life transformations. Many beneficiaries have started small businesses, while others have turned their skills into sustainable sources of income. As a result, they are now able to lead dignified lives. This positive change is spreading a message of hope across both rural and urban areas of Punjab. Dr. Baljit Kaur also highlighted that beneficiaries are being supported through continuous “handholding support,” which includes guidance, technical assistance, and market linkages to ensure long-term success. She noted that the progress of one family contributes to the progress of society as a whole. She further added that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab government remains committed to translating the vision of inclusive growth into reality by providing equal opportunities to all sections of society. The objective is to economically strengthen Scheduled Castes and other underprivileged communities, paving the way for a prosperous and equitable Punjab. These efforts demonstrate that development in Punjab is no longer confined to policy frameworks on paper, but is actively bringing meaningful change to the lives of those in need.
