In a significant breakthrough against illegal arms trafficking, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police have dismantled a weapons supply network and arrested two individuals. Authorities recovered eight illegal .30-bore pistols and 103 live cartridges from their possession. Preliminary investigations revealed that the arrested suspects were in contact with foreign-based smugglers through social media applications. These weapons were being supplied to criminal elements active in Punjab. Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav shared details of the operation on social media, highlighting the success of the crackdown. According to police officials, the network was actively engaged in supplying illegal firearms to criminals across the state. Following the seizure, investigators are now working to trace the wider links of the network. An FIR has been registered at the Islamabad Police Station in Amritsar in connection with the case. During the ongoing probe, police are focusing on identifying the sources and methods used by the accused to procure the weapons. Investigators are also examining their connections with foreign smugglers and potential cross-border links. Authorities are further attempting to determine how many weapons have already been supplied in Punjab and which criminal groups may have received them. This development marks a major step in Punjab Police’s campaign against organized crime and illegal arms trafficking, reinforcing their commitment to curbing the spread of unlawful weapons in the region.
