Fire Breaks Out in Gynaecology Ward of Jalandhar Civil Hospital, 20 Pregnant Women Evacuated

A fire broke out in the gynaecology ward of Jalandhar Civil Hospital on Tuesday morning, prompting an immediate evacuation of patients. According to the information available, the fire started at around 6:00 a.m. At the time of the incident, nearly 20 pregnant women were admitted to the ward. Fortunately, junior doctors were present in the ward when the fire broke out. The hospital administration responded swiftly and safely evacuated all the pregnant women one by one. As of now, no casualties or injuries have been reported in the incident. Following the incident, a team of doctors and paramedical staff rushed to the spot, while the fire brigade also arrived shortly afterward. By the time firefighters reached the hospital, the fire had spread enough for the ward to become filled with dense smoke, making rescue and firefighting operations more challenging. To clear the smoke, firefighters broke the ward's window panes before carrying out the operation. After considerable effort, the fire brigade succeeded in bringing the blaze under control. Preliminary information suggests that the fire may have been caused by a short circuit. However, the hospital administration is currently investigating the exact cause of the incident.
