Mayawati Moves to Eradicate Nepotism in BSP, Targets 50% Youth Participation in Upcoming Polls
Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) National President and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has announced a major policy decision aimed at eliminating dynastic politics within the party. Clarifying her stance through a post on platform X, Mayawati stated that neither of the two sons of her youngest brother, Anand Kumar—Akash Anand and his younger brother Ishan Anand—will be given any party positions or opportunities in active politics. Furthermore, this restriction will extend to future generations, ensuring that their children will also not be assigned party responsibilities. The BSP supreme leader emphasized that the party and government structure will strictly adhere to a one-person-opportunity principle, preventing family members from leveraging an individual's position for political gain. Prioritizing Missionary Workers Over Dynastic Succession Mayawati clarified that if Anand Kumar requires personal assistance or support in the future, he may only rely on his daughter, Deepika Anand, who is currently studying law. Deepika Anand may be assigned responsibilities as needed, given her honesty, courage, and efficiency. In the event of her unavailability, any such role will be entrusted to a dedicated missionary worker from the Dalit community based on general party consensus. Drawing a parallel to BSP founder Kanshi Ram, who kept his family members away from political advantages, Mayawati noted that she has similarly kept her relatives away from political office during her tenure as Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. Focus on Youth and Election Strategy The party is implementing a strategy to prioritize youth involvement across the country, particularly ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Punjab. Efforts are underway to ensure nearly 50 percent youth representation (specifically targeting Gen-Z) within the party organization. In future elections, hardworking, young, and talented candidates from all sections of society will be promoted to advance the political ideology and constitutional values of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar through the younger generation. Strict Stance Against Indiscipline Mayawati urged party cadres to remain vigilant against conspiracies and fake news spread by opposition parties, casteist media, and social media platforms. Addressing rumors regarding the potential reinstatement of individuals previously expelled for indiscipline, the BSP leadership labeled such reports as false and misleading, confirming that expelled members will not be readmitted into the party under any circumstances.
