Special Training Program for Ayushman Doctors Inaugurated by DC Dipshikha

Ferozepur : In a move to strengthen maternal health and family planning services in the district, the Punjab Government organized a special training session for doctors posted at Ayushman Arogya Centres in Ferozepur. Deputy Commissioner Dipshikha Sharma participated in the session held at the Civil Surgeon’s office and emphasized the importance of quality healthcare for pregnant women.

Speaking on the occasion, DC Sharma said that Ayushman Arogya Centres have proven to be a boon for the local population. She added that specialized training for doctors in antenatal care will significantly improve maternal healthcare and overall health services in the region.

Doctors attending the session received detailed guidance on antenatal care, including monitoring blood pressure, weight, identifying high-risk pregnancies, nutrition, vaccination, recognition of danger signs, and postnatal services. The training also covered best practices under government schemes like the Janani Shishu Suraksha Programme and the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan.

Key officials present included Deputy Medical Commissioner Dr. Gurmez Ram, Assistant Civil Surgeon Dr. Sushma, District Immunisation Officer Dr. Meenakshi Abrol, District Epidemiologist Dr. Saminder Kaur, Gynaecologist Dr. Richa from Civil Hospital, Superintendent Paramvir Monga, Vikas Kalra, and District Programme Manager Harish Kataria.

Mass Media Officers Sanjeev Sharma and Ankush Bhandari shared that the session also focused on family planning methods, their benefits, and possible side effects. The aim was to equip doctors to provide informed and sensitive counselling to women and eligible couples.

DC Sharma expressed hope that this training would make doctors more dedicated, knowledgeable, and empathetic, ultimately leading to more effective delivery of maternal and family planning services.
