Senior Congress leader DK Shivakumar is set to take oath today as the 24th Chief Minister of Karnataka. The swearing-in ceremony will be held at Lok Bhavan in Bengaluru at 4:00 PM. DK Shivakumar was elected as the leader of the Congress Legislature Party during a meeting of party legislators held on May 30. His appointment comes following the resignation of Siddaramaiah from the post of Chief Minister on May 28. With the change in leadership, Shivakumar will succeed Siddaramaiah as the head of the Karnataka government. Siddaramaiah served as Chief Minister of the state from May 20, 2023, until May 28, 2026. Meanwhile, Siddaramaiah has been appointed as a member of the Congress Working Committee. The development marks a significant transition in the party’s leadership structure in Karnataka. Speaking on Tuesday, Shivakumar stated that the Congress high command would release the list of ministers to be included in the new cabinet either by 10:00 AM on Wednesday or later in the day. He clarified that the names currently circulating in the media are not official. “The list will come from Delhi and will be sent to the Raj Bhavan so that the swearing-in formalities can be completed,” Shivakumar said while addressing questions regarding the formation of the new ministry.
