Orange Alert Issued as Winds, Rain and Hail Threat Loom Over Punjab

A significant change in weather conditions has been observed across Punjab and Chandigarh בעקבות snowfall in hilly regions and rainfall in the plains. Over the past 24 hours, the temperature has dropped by 2.4°C, bringing it closer to normal levels, according to the Meteorological Department. The department has forecast strong winds ranging between 40 to 50 km per hour across the state on March 30. Rainfall is expected at several places, with the possibility of hailstorms in some areas. In view of the developing conditions, an orange alert has been issued, and similar weather is likely to persist until March 31. As per official estimates, light to moderate rainfall is likely in 23 districts of the state. Meanwhile, 11 districts face the risk of hailstorms accompanied by strong winds. These districts include Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Rupnagar, Patiala, and Mohali. In other districts, thunderstorms and gusty winds are expected, although the likelihood of hailstorms remains low in those regions. Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious in view of the changing weather conditions.
