The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) on Thursday organized a protest march in Amritsar against the ban imposed on the film Satluj, which is based on the life of Bhai Jaswant Singh Khalra and depicts the alleged atrocities committed against Sikhs. The protest march, led by SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, began from the Information Centre located in the Sri Harmandir Sahib Complex and concluded at the office of the Deputy Commissioner, where a memorandum regarding the film was submitted. SGPC members, officials, and a large number of devotees participated in the march, carrying banners and raising slogans. Speaking on the occasion, Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said that the film Satluj portrays the work carried out by Bhai Jaswant Singh Khalra in the field of human rights. He stated that the film also depicts the alleged police excesses against Sikh youth and highlights Khalra’s efforts to seek justice for innocent youths who, according to him, were implicated in alleged fake police encounters. Dhami further said that the film brings to light the alleged injustices committed against Sikhs by the government system. He alleged that imposing a ban on the film was an attempt to suppress the truth and maintained that such a move was not justified.
