Police Crack PNB Robbery Case, Arrest Key Suspect from Model Town

The Jalandhar Police Commissionerate has solved a daylight robbery at a Punjab National Bank (PNB) branch in the Khurla Kingra area within 24 hours, marking a significant breakthrough in the case. The police have arrested the main accused, Simranjit Singh alias Amrik Singh, a resident of the upscale Green Model Town locality in Jalandhar. The accused’s background has drawn attention, as he is the son of retired DSP Harbhajan Singh. According to officials, a weapon used in the crime and a portion of the looted cash have been recovered from the accused. Efforts are ongoing to trace and arrest his accomplice, who remains at large. Given the sensitivity of the case, a special team was constituted under the leadership of DCP Manpreet Dhillon. The team included ADCP Rakesh Yadav, ACP Amarbir Singh, ACP Sanjay Kumar, and Crime Branch in-charge Sarabjit Singh. Acting on technical evidence and intelligence inputs, the police carried out swift कार्रवाई leading to the arrest. The Police Commissioner, during a press conference, confirmed that a case has been registered against the accused under various sections of law. Preliminary investigation has also revealed that Simranjit Singh has a criminal history. Two previous cases have been registered against him in Batala and SAS Nagar (Mohali), indicating his involvement in suspicious activities over a period of time. Police officials stated that the second suspect is expected to be arrested soon.
