The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has taken serious note of incidents involving the misuse of artificial intelligence (AI) technology to create videos that allegedly hurt Sikh religious sentiments and undermine the sanctity of Sri Harmandir Sahib. Expressing deep concern over the increasing trend of such content circulating on various social media platforms, SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami has directed authorities to take action against the accounts and individuals responsible for uploading such videos. Dhami stated that the misuse of AI technology is causing serious offence to the religious sentiments of the Sikh community. He emphasized that the SGPC is treating the matter with utmost seriousness and is working in coordination with experts in the field of artificial intelligence to prevent such incidents. He further noted that Sri Harmandir Sahib holds central importance for Sikhs and serves as a spiritual place that promotes the message of universal brotherhood. However, certain individuals are allegedly creating misleading and inappropriate videos related to the sacred site, which, he said, is unacceptable. Calling the issue highly sensitive, Dhami urged the government to adopt a serious approach and ensure strict action against those involved. He also appealed to the public not to share or circulate any such content that could hurt religious sentiments.
