The Punjab Congress is set to launch its campaign for the 2027 Assembly elections with a massive 'Hisaab Mango' rally in Sangrur on November 4, featuring senior party leader Rahul Gandhi as the chief guest. Senior Congress leaders KC Venugopal and Sachin Pilot announced the event during a press briefing on Monday. Sharply criticizing the Bhagwant Mann-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary (Organisation) KC Venugopal asserted that the law and order situation in Punjab has "completely collapsed" and described the state as becoming a stronghold for drug mafias. Arriving in Chandigarh on Sunday evening, Venugopal expressed confidence in the party's prospects, stating that the primary goal is to win Punjab and rescue it from these prevailing issues, adding that Congress is fully confident of forming the next government in the state. During his visit, Venugopal will conduct strategy sessions with senior Punjab Congress leaders, district presidents, and office-bearers to finalize preparations for the upcoming assembly elections and Rahul Gandhi's visit. Highlighting Rahul Gandhi's strong connection with the people of Punjab, Venugopal noted that citizens across the country, especially the youth, are increasingly aligning with his vision and perspective, expressing optimism that the people of Punjab are eagerly anticipating his November 4 visit. Concurring with Venugopal, AICC General Secretary and Punjab in-charge Sachin Pilot emphasized that the Congress party stands fully united ahead of the election battle. Pilot also targeted the AAP administration, pointing to rising law-and-order concerns and the worsening drug menace across the state.
