Imran Khan Meets Sister and Wife in Adiala Jail After Supreme Court Order

Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan met his sister Noreen Niazi and wife Bushra Bibi at Adiala Jail following an order by the Supreme Court. Noreen met her brother after nearly nine months. During their meeting, which lasted around 15 minutes, the family inquired about his health. Bushra Bibi subsequently met Imran Khan for approximately 30 to 35 minutes. Noreen was travelling to the jail along with her sisters Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan. Police stopped the three women at the Dahgal checkpoint, but later allowed only Noreen to enter the jail and meet Imran Khan. After the meeting, Noreen confirmed that she had met her brother but did not speak to the media, in accordance with an undertaking given before the court. The Supreme Court had on Tuesday ordered that Imran Khan be allowed to meet his family every week. The court observed that meeting family members is not an act of mercy or a favour but a fundamental right. The Supreme Court has also directed that Imran Khan be taken to Shifa International Hospital for medical examination and treatment. It further ordered the formation of a medical board for his treatment, which will include his personal doctor and his sister, Dr Uzma Khan. The medical report from Adiala Jail had expressed concerns regarding Imran Khan’s blood pressure and stress. The latest meetings with his sister and wife took place against the backdrop of the court’s directions concerning his family access and medical care.
