Fire at Labour Settlement Near Udyog Bhawan Brought Under Control After Major Rescue Operation

A major fire broke out in a cluster of labourers' jhuggis near the Udyog Bhawan area in Delhi on Wednesday morning, triggering a large-scale firefighting operation. Upon receiving the information, the Fire Department rushed 20 fire tenders to the spot and immediately began efforts to bring the blaze under control. According to fire officials, the fire was brought under control by 5:10 a.m., while the situation was reported to be completely under control by 5:30 a.m. after continuous firefighting operations. Preliminary investigation suggests that the fire originated from an electrical panel located near the labour settlement and quickly spread across the surrounding jhuggis. Firefighters launched rescue and firefighting operations immediately after reaching the site. The Fire Department confirmed that there have been no reports of any casualties or injuries so far. However, the belongings of the labourers were completely destroyed in the fire. The flames spread so rapidly that residents had to flee their shelters immediately and were unable to save their personal belongings. Fire officials said they received information about the incident at around 5:00 a.m. and promptly reached the location with emergency response teams. According to the department, the affected site was a labour camp. An investigation into the exact cause of the fire is currently underway. Officials added that the blaze was extremely intense and could only be brought under control after sustained firefighting efforts.
