Major Terror Plot Foiled in Punjab; BKI Operative Arrested with Explosive-Laden IED in Jalandhar

Punjab Police have foiled a major terror conspiracy by arresting the operator of an alleged Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terror module from Jalandhar during a joint operation conducted by Counter Intelligence (CI) Jalandhar and Jalandhar Rural Police. According to Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav, the module was allegedly backed by Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and operated by foreign-based handlers. The operation was carried out as part of the Punjab government's ongoing drive to maintain law and order and strengthen security across the state under the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. The arrested accused has been identified as Satbir Singh, a resident of Padhiana village in Adampur, Jalandhar. Besides the explosive material, police also seized a black Platina motorcycle (registration number PB-08-ET-6736) that he was allegedly riding at the time of his arrest. DGP Gaurav Yadav said police recovered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) containing 1.3 kilograms of high explosives, along with shrapnel and ball bearings. He stated that the recovery indicates that the terror module intended to disturb peace and public order in Punjab. He further said that the timely action by the police successfully prevented a major terror threat and helped save several innocent lives. Sharing details of the operation, the DGP said Counter Intelligence Jalandhar had received credible information that a BKI operative had received a consignment of explosives on the instructions of foreign-based handlers. Acting swiftly on the intelligence, teams from Counter Intelligence Jalandhar and Jalandhar Rural Police established a joint checkpoint at Dhandaur village. During the operation, police intercepted Satbir Singh's motorcycle and recovered the IED from a bag during the search. DGP Gaurav Yadav said further investigation is underway to uncover the entire terror network, including the foreign handlers and local links involved in the conspiracy. Police are also examining the forward and backward linkages of the case to identify all those connected with the module. A case has been registered at Patara Police Station, Jalandhar Rural, under Sections 113(1) and 113(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Sections 4 and 5 of the Explosive Substances Act, and Section 25(1B)(A) of the Arms Act. Further legal proceedings are in progress.
