iPhone Duo Stock Runs Low Before Launch, Apple Caps Orders at Two Devices Per Customer

Apple has limited pre-orders of its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, to a maximum of two devices per customer as initial inventory continues to sell out ahead of the device’s official launch on October 23.
 

According to a report by MacRumors, customers attempting to purchase more than two iPhone Duo units through Apple’s US website or the Apple Store app are being asked to reduce the quantity before proceeding to checkout.
 

The restriction comes amid exceptionally high demand for the new device. The report stated that launch-day deliveries were fully booked within minutes of pre-orders opening on October 16. As a result, estimated delivery timelines for many customers have been pushed back to November and December.
 

MacRumors also reported that Apple has implemented a two-device purchase limit in several other markets, including China, Singapore and Hong Kong. Some Reddit users claimed they were initially able to place orders for up to four devices, while others reported that the purchase cap was set at two from the beginning.
 

Similar restrictions have also been observed on Apple’s website in India. The 256GB variant of the iPhone Duo is priced at ₹2,99,900 in the country. Sources indicated that after the initial stock was exhausted, shipping schedules were revised, leading to delivery estimates for some Indian orders extending as far as January 2027.
 

Apple has not officially explained the reason behind the order limit. However, the company has used similar measures in the past. When the original iPhone was introduced in 2007, Apple restricted purchases to two devices per customer in an effort to prevent large-scale reselling.
 

The report further noted that Apple has begun improving delivery estimates for some customers who had already placed pre-orders, suggesting that shipping timelines may continue to change as additional inventory becomes available.
 

With demand remaining strong and supply constrained, the iPhone Duo has emerged as one of Apple's most closely watched product launches, with customers in several markets facing extended waiting periods before receiving the device.
