Rail passengers across India are set to face significant inconvenience over the next 36 days as Indian Railways undertakes major station upgradation works. Beginning September 10 and continuing until October 15, a series of power and traffic blocks will be implemented in phases, leading to widespread disruption in train services. According to railway authorities, a total of 12 trains have been fully cancelled, impacting 442 scheduled trips. Several other trains will be short-terminated, while some will run on diverted routes. Additionally, platform changes have been announced at Chandigarh Railway Station to accommodate the ongoing works. Partial Terminations at Ambala Cantt The Ramnagar–Chandigarh Express will operate only up to Ambala Cantt on September 14, 21, 28, and October 5 and 12, returning from there instead of Chandigarh. Similarly, the Ajmer–Chandigarh Express will be short-terminated and short-originated at Ambala Cantt between October 11 and 13. The Udaipur–Chandigarh Express will also run only up to Ambala Cantt for 6–7 days between September 23 and October 15, departing from platform number 2 instead of its usual platform number 1. During this period, the Ambala–Chandigarh section will remain partially closed. Route Diversions Two trains will be diverted via alternate routes, skipping Chandigarh and nearby stations. The Lalkuan–Amritsar Express will run through Ambala–Sirhind–Sahnewal on October 3 and 10, bypassing Chandigarh, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar (Mohali), and New Morinda stations. Temporary Halts at Mohali Station To ease passenger congestion, eight trains will be given temporary halts at Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar (Mohali) station between September 10 and October 15. These include the Sambalpur–Jammu Tawi Express, Tatanagar–Jammu Tawi Express, Agra–Hoshiarpur Express, Saharsa–Amritsar Express, and Amritsar–Dehradun Express, among others. Notably, the Tatanagar–Jammu Tawi Express will receive this halt from September 8 to October 13. Railway officials have advised passengers to check train routes, stoppages, and timings carefully before travel during this period to avoid inconvenience.
