Minor Girls Injured in Road Accident on Malout Road, One Dies

A tragic road accident on Malout Road near Islamwala village in Fazilka district claimed the life of a 13-year-old girl and left another minor seriously injured after their scooter was hit by an improvised “jugaad” cart. According to reports, the incident occurred when a child and two minor girls were travelling on a scooter to a nearby village market to have juice. During the journey, an oncoming makeshift cart collided with their vehicle, resulting in severe injuries to both girls. A three-year-old child who was also on the scooter fell aside during the impact. The injured were immediately taken to the government hospital in Fazilka by the Road Safety Force (SSF). Doctors later declared one of the girls, identified as Kajal, dead. She was a Class 8 student studying at a government school in her village. As per available information, Kajal, a resident of Islamwala village, had gone to her friend Simar’s house along with her younger brother. After picking up her friend, the three were heading towards the village bus stand to drink juice when the accident took place. While Kajal succumbed to her injuries, her friend survived but sustained fractures in her leg at two places and remains admitted to the hospital for treatment. The three-year-old brother and the other girl escaped with their lives.
