Punjabi singer Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu Moosewala has returned to the stage through holographic technology, with his ‘Signed to God World Tour’ beginning with a packed show in Toronto on Friday night. His team has described the tour as the first hologram-based world tour by an Indian artist. The launch also coincided with the release of a new music video for his popular track ‘295’.
The video, which features Moosewala alongside his family, including his mother, father and younger brother, was released on YouTube. It received more than 280,000 views within the first 30 minutes of its release, highlighting the continuing interest in the late singer’s music.
Holographic technology recreates the singer’s stage presence
The tour aims to recreate Moosewala’s stage presence using holographic technology, his original voice, cinematic visuals and stage effects. The initiative has generated considerable enthusiasm among fans around the world, many of whom have continued to celebrate his music since his killing on May 29, 2022, in Jawaharke village of Mansa district.
Several singers who had previously worked with Moosewala also performed on stage during the hologram show. Some social media users commented that the holographic presentation looked remarkably realistic, giving the impression that the singer was performing live. The experience brought back memories of the artist for many fans.
‘295’ video adds to his musical legacy
The release of the ‘295’ music video marks another emotional chapter in Moosewala’s posthumous musical journey. Released in 2021, the track remains one of his best-known songs and continues to enjoy a wide following.
The song has received more than 12.8 million likes on YouTube, making it one of the most-liked Punjabi songs on the platform. The latest video also features members of Moosewala’s family, adding a personal dimension to the release.
Tour to include 10 shows in its first phase
Moosewala’s father, Balkaur Singh, had earlier told The Tribune that the first phase of the tour would comprise 10 shows. He is attending the performances alongside his wife and younger son, Shubhdeep Singh, affectionately known as “Nikka Sidhu”.
The tour is expected to cover several countries, including Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan and India.
Posthumous music releases continue
Moosewala’s family and team have continued releasing songs recorded before his death. His 13th posthumous track, ‘Ghostface Killah’, was released last month.
