VERKA Milk Plant hosts green initiative on World Environment Day as part of Cooperative Year 2025

Ferozepur : In celebration of World Environment Day and the International Year of Cooperatives (IYC) 2025, NABARD, in collaboration with MILKFED Ferozepur, organised a district-level promotional event at the VERKA Milk Plant.

The event was part of the activity calendar released by the Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India, and centred on themes such as Bio-Villages, Natural and Organic Farming, Climate Smart Agriculture, and Solar Villages. Local cooperative institutions enthusiastically participated in the programme, highlighting the cooperative sector’s role in sustainable development.

Rohit Kashyap, District Development Manager, NABARD, engaged with VERKA officials and emphasised the significant contribution of cooperatives in fostering rural prosperity and environmental stewardship. He stressed the importance of integrating Bio-Villages, Natural Farming, and Solar Villages models into cooperative frameworks and expressed confidence in MILKFED's leadership in driving this mission at the grassroots level.

The programme concluded with the distribution of awareness materials and a tree plantation drive, symbolising the collective commitment to environmental sustainability.
