Amritsar witnessed a widespread shutdown on Saturday following a bandh call given by Sikh organization Dal Khalsa to mark the anniversary of the June 1984 Operation Blue Star military action. In response to the call, shops and various business establishments across the city remained closed. Earlier in the day, Ghallughara Day was observed at Sri Akal Takht Sahib. The occasion drew attention from members of the Sikh community, while the city administration maintained heightened security arrangements throughout the area. Punjab Police deployed extensive security measures across Amritsar. Checkpoints were established at several locations, and many routes leading to Sri Harmandir Sahib were temporarily blocked during the morning hours. However, some roads remained open to facilitate the movement of devotees visiting the shrine. The impact of the shutdown was visible in major commercial areas of the city, including Hall Bazaar, Katra Jaimal Singh, Katra Sher Singh, Chowk Farid, Rambagh, and the areas surrounding Sri Harmandir Sahib. Most shops in these markets remained closed, and several other business activities were also suspended for the day. Despite the closure of commercial establishments, transportation services and the movement of vehicles continued to operate normally across the city.
