Pregnant Woman Forced to Lie on Hospital Floor in Ferozepur Over Lack of Beds
A case highlighting alleged shortages of basic facilities has come to light at the Civil Hospital in Ferozepur, where a pregnant woman reportedly had to lie on the floor for two days because a hospital bed was unavailable. According to the woman's family members from Maste Ke village in Ferozepur, she was admitted to the hospital three days ago and was initially provided a bed. However, she was later asked to vacate it on the grounds that another patient needed the bed for a glucose drip. The family alleged that the six-month pregnant woman was subsequently forced to spend the next two days on the floor. With no bed available, she reportedly used her slippers as a makeshift pillow while resting on the floor. The family members further claimed that the woman did not receive any treatment at the hospital and expressed concern over her condition. They said they had repeatedly requested the hospital administration to provide proper treatment and the necessary facilities. The matter came to public attention after it was reported by the media. Following this, the hospital administration intervened and provided the woman with a bed. Doctors on duty said that patients were facing difficulties because of a shortage of beds at the hospital. They also stated that the department had been informed several times in writing about the shortage of beds, as well as issues related to air conditioners and fans. When an attempt was made to contact SMO Dr Nikhil Gupta for his response, he reportedly disconnected the call.
