Delhi-NCR Likely to Witness Rain at Several Places Today, Says IMD

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast generally cloudy skies and rainfall at several locations across Delhi-NCR on Wednesday. According to the weather department, residents of the national capital can expect intermittent showers throughout the day, with weather conditions remaining favorable for continued rainfall. The IMD stated that most parts of Delhi are likely to receive very light to light rainfall, while isolated areas may witness moderate showers from the morning until the afternoon. There is also a possibility of rainfall during the evening and night hours. The weather forecast comes as a combination of a monsoon trough, an upper-air cyclonic circulation over southwest Uttar Pradesh, and a western disturbance continues to influence weather conditions across northwest India and adjoining regions. According to the department, Delhi is expected to experience one or two spells of very light to light rain during the day. Isolated locations could receive moderate rainfall between the morning and afternoon hours. Another spell of light rain is likely later in the day, with moderate showers expected at isolated places during the evening and night. The IMD has predicted the maximum temperature to remain between 31°C and 33°C, while the minimum temperature is expected to range from 22°C to 24°C. Southeasterly winds with speeds of 10 to 15 km/h are also likely to prevail during the day. The department's seven-day forecast indicates that generally cloudy conditions and intermittent rainfall are expected to continue over the national capital through the first week of August. On July 30, Delhi is likely to receive light to moderate rainfall during the day, followed by very light to light showers at night. From July 31 to August 2, one or two spells of very light to light rain are expected. On August 3, light rainfall may occur at several locations, particularly during the morning and afternoon. Meanwhile, heavy monsoon rains on Tuesday caused widespread disruption across Delhi. Waterlogged roads, flooded markets, traffic congestion, fallen trees, and power outages affected normal life in several parts of the city. According to the IMD, Tuesday turned out to be the wettest day of the year so far and the coolest day recorded in July over the past three years. The Safdarjung weather station, Delhi's base observatory, recorded 57.6 mm of rainfall between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Several other areas received even heavier rainfall, with Pusa recording the highest at 88.5 mm during the same period.
