Punjab Police Achieves Major Breakthrough, Fugitive Gangster Deported from Indonesia

Punjab Police has achieved a significant breakthrough in its fight against international organized crime by bringing back a wanted fugitive gangster from Indonesia. The Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), in coordination with OFTEC Punjab and central agencies, successfully deported Jobanjeet Singh, alias Joban Billa, from Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, to Punjab, India. According to the police, Joban Billa was wanted in several serious criminal cases, including murder, attempt to murder, offences under the NDPS Act, and violations of the Arms Act. He had reportedly been evading arrest for a long time by hiding in different countries. Punjab Police stated that Joban Billa is wanted in four murder cases registered in Punjab and had been absconding for a considerable period. His return to India is being viewed as a major step in the state's ongoing efforts to curb organized crime and apprehend fugitives operating from abroad. The operation was carried out under Punjab Police's "Operation Nomad Hunt." Officials said the special mission lasted nearly six months and involved continuous surveillance, strategic intelligence gathering, and close coordination with national and international agencies. Based on the intelligence collected, the accused was traced, detained, and subsequently deported to India. Police described the operation as an important achievement in strengthening the crackdown on organized crime networks and bringing wanted offenders back to face legal proceedings in India.
