The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) held a ‘Punjab Bachao Rally’ at Ugar Aulakh village in the Ajnala Assembly constituency on Thursday. Party president Sukhbir Singh Badal attended the rally and addressed the gathering.
During his address, Sukhbir Singh Badal announced Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) member Jodh Singh Samra as the SAD candidate for the Ajnala Assembly constituency.
The announcement was made in the presence of party workers and supporters gathered at the rally. Badal also appealed to the people of Ajnala to remain united and support Samra in the election.
Addressing the gathering, Sukhbir Singh Badal said that if the SAD forms the government in Punjab, the Atta-Dal scheme would be strengthened again. He said 50 kg of grain would be provided at a rate of Rs 4 per kg.
Badal also announced that the amount provided under the Shagun scheme would be increased to Rs 1 lakh.
At the rally, the SAD president urged the people of the constituency to unite and ensure a strong majority for Jodh Singh Samra.
