A tragic fire broke out at a private hospital in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district early Thursday morning, resulting in the deaths of four people and leaving more than 20 others seriously injured. According to officials, the fire erupted suddenly and quickly spread through the hospital building, creating panic among patients, attendants, and staff. Several fire brigade teams rushed to the scene immediately after receiving information about the incident. After hours of firefighting efforts, the blaze was finally brought under control. The incident reportedly occurred at around 3 a.m. Rescue operations proved particularly challenging because the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) was located on the fifth floor, while the waiting hall was on the fourth floor. Despite the difficult conditions, firefighters carried out rescue efforts by breaking windows and doors to reach those trapped inside the building. The prompt response of the fire services, local administration, and rescue teams helped save many lives. However, the fire proved fatal for several patients admitted to the ICU. District Magistrate (DM) Subrat Kumar, who reached the site, said that around 13 to 15 patients had been admitted to the ICU. Some patients have been shifted to other hospitals for further treatment and care. The District Magistrate assured that a thorough investigation would be conducted into the incident. He stated that strict legal action would be taken against the hospital management if any negligence or wrongdoing is found during the inquiry. Authorities have not yet determined the exact cause of the fire. An investigation is currently underway to establish how the incident occurred.
